During the evangelism project, two of my colleagues and I decided to visit the prison. The reason for the visit is to give hope to the people serving and also to evangelize and create gospel awareness for the prisoners. For me, I needed to see a friend of my cousin who had been sent prison for six months for a minor mistake. After spending time with my cousin’s friend, my colleagues and I took an opportunity to evangelize to prisoners who were interested.
We asked prisoners who were willing to hear about Jesus to join us as we were going the share some good news. Our gospel surrounded the love of Christ and how he is able to forgive even the worst sins. God does not discriminate and it is the reason He sent his son Jesus Christ here on earth for all of us. Jesus says that all those who are heavy laden and anguish in pain and sorrow should go unto him and He will have our troubles taken away. The message seemed to rejuvenate the prisoners and seemed interested. Some were willing to know more about Christ.

Some of the prisoners were keen to know why we were spending our time in prison teaching hopeless souls about Jesus. The reason why we were evangelizing is for the prisoners to experience the love we followers of Christ experience. Jesus showed his love for humanity by dying on the cross and his request for the disciple was to spread the word and love that he showed them. It is through his resurrection that Jesus paved a way for us to be redeemed. Now, all we have to do as a sinner is to believe in Christ, repent and surrender to Jesus our Lord and we will be forgiven and welcomed in the Kingdom of heaven.
