While women have been majorly underrepresented in leadership positions, women of color find it far more difficult to attain leadership positions. In essence, they are faced with gender stereotyping, whereby certain people think that they should not hold leadership positions. Moreover, women of color suffer from the double outsider phenomenon. Therefore, they have to surmount the problems of race then deal with the problem of gender while looking for leadership positions (Hotchkins, 2017). In other words, women of color have to do more than white women to get to the same level. The problem is compounded by the fact that even though women of color advance better in education, they still do not get the same opportunities for the leadership positions. The result of the underrepresentation is that women of color become disillusioned in education achievements since they do not lead in attaining leadership positions like it is for the whites.

Women of color find it difficult to attain leadership positions even with higher educational achievements. The problem could be as a result of race and gender issues, which stand in their way to getting the positions. The study, therefore, seeks to understand the obstacles that women of color face, leading to their lack of attaining the leadership positions. Benefits of Design
The methodology and design chosen to inform the study will have the best impact since they are comprehensive and will address all the points of the study. The qualitative research method is ideal since it helps the researcher to identify the problem from a first-hand perspective. Moreover, the ground theory will help the researcher to experience the problems women of color face from first-hand experience as well as help to give a more definite conclusion to the study (Johnson, 2015). The participant study is powerful as the researches have the chance to experience what the subjects go through and therefore avoid making wrong generalizations. The ground theory, therefore, is well placed to define and understand the problems the women face. Recommendations can then be developed from the same to inform future research on the subject.
The phenomenology approach is also crucial as researchers will be able to interrogate the problem further by asking why discrimination happens. The subjects will be identified based on the problem. Ideally, starting from the problem and then sampling the women who have not progressed will give the investigators better focus on the problem being studied (Johnson, 2015).
