Analysis of the lessons learned from the video
The video is rich in lessons about teaching philosophy and formats which can be used by an interested individual to put down his/her teaching philosophy. As I was going through the video; there are notable lessons that I managed to grasp. Therefore, I will present them and critical analysis them in this part of this paper. The first lesson learned was what teaching philosophy meant. I learned that a belief and practices which teacher rights down or reflect with the aim of guiding the classroom work is what is meant by the word teaching philosophy. Within an educational philosophy, the teacher states the goals they would wish to achieve at the end of their interaction with students in the classroom. Also, they have to indicate a blue print of the teaching strategies, formulas or methods which they will have to tune the students to ensure that the set goals are at the end of the teaching met. It means that for the teacher to achieve these aims, they have to set SMART goals. Their goals should be specific to what they want to achieve or address; they should be measurable whether or not they are achieved, they should be attainable, reliable and lastly time framed.
The second lesson I managed to grasp is the structure or the lay out which one should follow to write a good teaching philosophy. In this case, I have learned that a good philosophy must have the title of what the teacher or the owner ought to address. Secondly, it ought to have thesis statements. This is brief description or direction which the teaching philosophy wishes to take. Also, it can be addressed as the primary issue which is to be presented on the educational philosophy. Moreover, the philosophy must have the narrative part. In this part, the owner outlines and critically describes the thoughts, plans, and means of achieving the goal. These may include how he/she is going to organize the students and keep them in line with the new changes. It includes how he /she are planning to utilize the classroom features to help in achieving the goals and many others.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The last lesson learned from the video is what I should include as I teacher or as someone who writes a teaching philosophy. In this case, there is a specific guideline on what should or should not be included in the document. The first issue to include is an instructional goal. This is what one would wish student to learn in class. What is the weighty subject or issue you are interested in sharing with the students? Alternatively, there is learning a theoretical framework. In this case, the weighty point is how learning is organized and how it will take place. Will it be inclusive or teacher oriented? Will it involve students raising their hands and answering teacher's questions or it will be the teacher to provide answers to their questions?
Summarize the role human resources personnel AND school leaders play helping to facilitate the implementation of teaching philosophy goals.
One of the most important parts of teaching philosophy is classroom implementation. It is possible for a teacher to have a well-documented philosophy with a SMART goal and implementation strategies, however, without help from the institutional leaders, proper implementation of document to ensure that the intended goal is achieved might be challenging. Therefore, both human resources and the institutional leaders have a vital role in the implementation process of the teaching philosophy.
First, human resource personnel (HR) are tasked by the board to ensure that the school gets best teachers who have good teaching philosophies (Boxall & Purcell, 2011). They play a role in ensuring that the teachers who are selected to handle students are well experience, knowledge and have wide knowledge in their expertise. Through announcing the position, screening the teachers who apply for these post, interview them and have the best selected, they ensure that only teachers who have best philosophies are hired. This makes it easy for implementation since those teachers masters what they do best.
Lastly, one major role of human resources person in the school is motivation. They ensure that teachers have a fair share of their salaries. They also ensure that the teachers are rewarded, this ensure that they carefully implement their teaching philosophy in a way which benefits the students.
According to Akert and Martin (2012), the leaders within the school environment such as the board of directors, the stakeholders, and others also have a role to apply in ensuring proper implementation of philosophy teaching. These individuals are responsible for funding the school to ensure that the facilities which aid proper implementation of teaching philosophies are available. They ensure that classroom materials are available, books, pens, and other necessary materials which can help the teacher achieve their set targets are available.
How do they support and value educators?
English dictionary defines educator as anything or any person that educates, for instance, teachers, persons, a principal who is involved in directing and others. These individual are also supported by the both the organization leaders and the human resources personals.
Firstly, the human resource personnel supports the teachers or the educators by ensuring that they are well motivated, they are well paid for their work, they are well rotated to ensure that they avoid the occupation stress and also they are well trained and developed efficiently as asserted by DuFour and Marzano (2011). To ascertain whether their efforts have bored fruits, human resources managers’ uses appraisal forms to compare the performance of the teachers to the set standards on a particular subject or class.
Alternatively, the school leaders play a major role. First, they ensure that they provide necessary information to the educators on changes that they would wish to be implemented in the environment. They also, they facilitate professional learning among the teachers and ensure that the teachers are well financed to help them tackle their work with full concentrations. Their major way of evaluating the educators' success is based on the student's trend of performance over time. In a case of the trend increase, their effort has borne fruit.
Show evidence of critical thinking and provide specific examples.
According to Moore et al., (2011), critical thinking is an intellectual discipline which involves skillfully and actively conceptualizing, synthesizing, applying, evaluating and communicating data, generated through the act of observation, reflection, communication as a guide to individual actions and belief. There are many instances where critical thinking is exhibited whether positively or negatively. One example is a team of scientist who works in the highly complex project to gather data. In this case, the project needs maximum concentrations and conceptualization to ensure that the data collected are not bias and precise. Another example is where a master sergeant with the military troops working on how to carry out suicidal mission. In this case, critical thinking is necessary since any mistakes mean all the operation backfires.
Conclusion
In conclusion, writing a teaching philosophy needs critical thinking. A good teaching philosophy has a specific format that needs to be followed as well as specific issues which needs to be included. Proper implementation of teaching philosophy needs support from the staff, the institution leaders and the human resource management.
