Procrastination is one of the main challenges that I have had to deal with when attempting to achieve my goals. It was difficult to accomplish some of the long-term and short-term goals that I have set in the past since I keep pushing them forward. Although I have had the right intentions and a plan, I could not manage to implement my plans. As a result, most of the plans were abstract. Thus, to overcome this challenge I resorted to working and accomplishing the short term plans that would gradually enable me to achieve my long term goals. To begin, I created a timeline that would guide me through the process and remind me when I was required to start and complete a task.
The second challenge that I have encountered in the past is failing to recognize failure as a learning opportunity as opposed to a setback. In the past I would easily be discouraged when I encountered an event that would limit me from progressing with achieving my goals as I had anticipated. As a result, I would easily be frustrated and give up when I encountered failure in my life. However, I later learnt that achieving one’s goals does not mean that everything will work out as planned; in some unforeseen instances an individual will be faced with minor or extreme challenges that may cause them to fail. Thus, instead of being discouraged it is important to recognize the causes of the failure and rectify them if possible. Whenever I failed, instead of focusing this energy of being frustrated I would take time to reflect and create a plan, which would enable me to get back on track.
