The capacity to feed all people s in the world through extensive framing on large tracts of land has led to the production of excess food. Unlike in the past where developed countries did not have this capability today these countries have the capability to feed people and keep them alive. However, the question that Meads asks is whether this capability will be used or not which an ethical question is. The problem here is the fact that the affluent treats food as a staple to help their countries to prosper as opposed to a substance that is required to feed populations. I agree with Mead on the fact that the rich have an ethical duty to use their food to fed people first and then use it for commercial purposes.

Mead proposes some solutions to the world hunger problem most of which are about a change of attitudes. According to Mead (1970), food should not be commercialized but rather should be seen as a substance to keep people alive. Additionally, Mead believes that it is possible to ensure that everyone gets enough food by applying agriculture knowledge to harness nature. Large-scale farming that utilizes artificial fertilizers is blamed for the commercialization, which has affected even developed countries. It is time that developed countries ensured that the food they produce reaches all people across the world at the cheapest prices.

Humans are using scientific methods to domesticate, rear and breed animals to meet their insatiable meat products appetite. There is mass rearing of animals, which contributes to overcrowding and limiting of animals’ movements. The animals are disallowed from having normal lives as many of them are separated from their natural lives, vaccinated, bred, and forced to mature faster. The animals then end in production lines where they are killed in their masses to meet humans’ meat product’s needs.

Harari offers staggering statistic on the number of animals that are domesticated, the number of species that have gone extinct, and the number of animals that die on the production lines. According to Harrari (2017)tens of billions of animals with emotions and sensations die on the production line, 75 percent of large animals have been driven to extinction in the US and 90 percent of them are domesticated. These statistics make feel sorry for the animals that ate being subjected to such treatment to satisfy human needs. I feel that animals ought to roam around since this is the natural order, as I prefer this order as opposed to instituted and cruel human order.
