The modern construction techniques together with the lightweight wood construction are not new in the construction industry ( Joerger 2014 ). The main concerns to protect the compound during construction would be temporary heat and air quality, preincident plans, and building collapse after the fire. All the factors are important if they are viewed at the primary stage of construction to ensure that the building is stable. Primarily, during the construction process, the construction site remains the place with the highest potential for injuries, large-scale operations, and fire especially those buildings that involve wood constructions ( Murphy & DeCrane 2012 ) . Moreover, it is crucial to classify the material according to the major construction types, which are non-combustible, wood frame, heavy timber, ordinary, and fire resistive. This is important as it is in line with the construction safety regulation to identify the concerns to protect the complex.

The local/building model provide tactical principles and basic strategies from which the past performance and experience in similar buildings and structures regardless of the material and construction can be improved to avoid fire accidents. Further, the model helps the engineers and the constructions workers to identify the best equipment and techniques to fight fire accidents in case they happen ( Murphy & DeCrane 2012 ) . For instance, the wood trusses used in platform and ceiling frames. It is important that the trusses use limited space to avoid the faster spread of fire. Space can be limited to 1,000 square feet for efficiency ( Joerger 2014 ). Moreover, the construction of the attic space before the insulation can be put in place. The mechanism helps fight the fire as the insulation prevents the roof from burning and water can be applied of the on the attics. These are some of the mechanism through which the local building model is useful for firefighting and construction process.
