Writing a descriptive paper is a lot like painting a house. A good descriptive essay has to appeal to senses and emotions and not just facts to create an emotional connection with readers. This was achieved in this essay making it one of the great pieces of descriptive essays. This descriptive travel essay portrayed the place with vivid details to help readers visualize and create a mental picture of what is being described. The essay helped the reader understand the Bahamas island and all its unique features in chronological order.

The writer conveyed personal perceptions on the subject sensory, factual and figurative details including thoughts and feelings regarding the Bahamas. These details were arranged in a logical order with transitional words connecting ideas. The description told how the Bahamas looks, smells, feels and sounds like for someone who has been there, which can influence a person into deciding to visit. It appealed to all senses by using sensory details in the description to appeal to the reader’s imagination. Furthermore, the description used figurative language including metaphors to describe the subject. The author used subjective viewpoints with objective factors such as color, shape, and size to reduce persona opinions.

At the same time, the essay was able to spark the reader’s interest through its use of vivid vocabulary and good word choice. A vivid language allows the author to create a mood for the description and allow the reader to visualize the scene. This essay easily captured my attention as a reader from the use of words and descriptions that described the beauty of Bahamas. The author used specific adjectives, nouns, and strong action verbs to bring life to a place created in the reader’s minds. She outlined the factors that make the Bahamas a great place for vacation and why a person might choose to visit the place.

In essence, this essay is colorful and contains sensory and figurative details that create a picture in the reader’s mind. It provided a visual idea of the Bahamas by conveying individual impressions based on emotions and perceptions of the author. The transition words in this essay are well used to keep up the smooth flow of thought. The sentences lead logically from one thought to another providing a view of
