Aging is associated with physiological changes observed and experienced in the human body that result in senescence. The physiological developments, particularly in humans, are accompanied by other changes including behavioral and psychological and social changes. Additionally, the process is genetically determined and environmentally controlled. These biological-physiological aspects underlie aging and overall health status. Consequently, the likelihood of death occurrence increases with age advancement, making an individual more vulnerable and prone to diseases. As such this precise seeks to discuss the general aging process and its influence on diet and nutrition status. 

With aging, the performance of many organs including the heart, brain, kidneys, and lungs have shown a gradual decline. This decline is contributed by the loss of cells from respective organs, cellular enzymes may also underperform by being less active and thus more time required for chemical reactions to take place. To boost the performance of the body functions and the general health status, eating healthy is crucial. This calls for a properly balanced diet that comprises lean sources of protein, vegetables, high-fiber foods, whole grains and fruits, and avoiding foods saturated in salt and fat. Aging also influences muscle health, making the right decisions in the intake of the right amount and type of nutrient is important. Adequate amounts of calcium can be found in dairy products, kale and broccoli, and vitamin D from the sun, eggs and vitamin supplements (Erikson et al., 2016).

The common change in the aging process is the cardiovascular system change whereby the blood vessels and arteries are stiff affecting the normal pumping of blood through them. Bones also continuously gain weakness due to the decrease in mass density. Conclusively, problems may be experienced in various systems including digestive systems, memory skills, and sexuality.
