In the history of psychology, Freud is one of the supreme prominent figures, but not certainly because contemporary psychologists consent his ideas. Freud has frequently cited the names in psychology, but several of the references are perilous in nature. Numerous personality models were designed reaction to his theory, diverging off in directions deserted by Freud, or using quotas of Freud’s ideas while rejecting some of them.

The term psyche discusses mind as a whole. However, Freud had a lot of confident in the psyche thus he was unconscious; Freud associated it to an iceberg, an iceberg was nine/tenths underneath the water. In his theory of 1923, Freud renowned between the id which was the primitive, creature –like section of the mind, purportedly the generation of energy required by the psyche, the ego which was the "agent of adaptation" in psyche, was frequently conscious as well as the super-ego was the origin of self-evaluation, pride and guilt, thus was an internalization values of parents. The id was completely cataleptic, in which Freud thought of. The super-ego was partially unconscious, and the ego was regularly accessible to realization.

Freud defined the marvel of repression, in which the rational mind goes away from a painful memory as well as thought, forcing it down into the insensible. The believed does not go missing, though, and life energy from the libido is utilized by keeping it suppressed. The whole energy can be unconfined; Freud thought it when a suppressed memory is re-admitted to awareness.

In conclusion, Freud designated a diversity of protection mechanisms, by which the personality defended themselves against unfriendly memories, thoughts as well as wishes. Thus is the part of Freud's theory which is conventional in contemporary psychology. Though, Freud put the most importance emphasis on his theory of sex, particularly the order of events in initial childhood that he branded it as the "the drama of the family." The research fails to support various ideas of Freud, with the remarkable exclusive mechanisms of defense.
