Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, individual lifestyles have changed. With the virus spreading and more people succumbing to the disease, governments and health sectors have developed means to control the spread. Isolation is one of the techniques enforced. According to (Myers) , humans need to belong have been impacted by the new structures. Hence, this paper intends to address how individuals are coping and the mental state of everyone affected.

Humans are social creatures who are at the best when they can interact with one another. It is in them to want to associate themselves with others. For instance, teenagers and young adults have strong social and friendship bonds that they connect with regularly, unlike the older generation. Hence, when the pandemic struck, they are the most affected because of the large networks, unlike the elderly, who, in most cases, have smaller circles. As a result, depression, and loneliness has been on the rise among the youngsters. According to (Myers), mental health decreased since the onset of the pandemic like suicidal thoughts tripled, standing at 26% within the year compared to 2018, when the rate was 4%.

Besides, human response to the crisis varies from individual to individual. The fear associated can either be too much or too little. When persons experience too little fear, they tend to be overly optimistic, which can be catastrophic as some individuals, despite the regulations enforced to curb the pandemic, still, flock the entertainment joints like bars and restaurants. On the other hand, too much fear results in exaggerated fear brought forth by a situation's readiness to pop up in mind. For instance, when President Trump announced to have contracted the virus, more Americans could relate transitioning to more citizens wearing masks and adhering to the rules and regulations put in place. Also, parents are less likely to send their kids to school, fearing they will be infected.

Some of the psychologists' challenges are countering disrespecting experts, conspiracy theories, and the anti-vax movement. Also, intergenerational responsibility can be encouraged where the young adhere to the rules set like wearing masks to protect the other members of the society and the elderly, although they have a better chance of recovering after infection. Similarly, the elderly can take care of the environment so the young ones can benefit.

In conclusion, although covid-19 is among the many problems facing the world, there are many things to be proud of, like improved literacy and immunization. With masks, students can resume their studies. However, tutors have to use more energy to pass across the message content. Unfortunately, the facial expressions and tonal variations will be challenging to capture.
