The University of West Alabama (UWA) started as a church-based female academy and made its first admission of students in 1983. The university's current president is Dr. Ken Tucker, who was initiated into office in 2015 and heads the public/state/liberal arts institution to date. UWA is situated in Livingston, AL –West Central Alabama. The university consists of students such as 1% international students, 54% minorities, and 45% make up Caucasian students. The university comprises of approximate 2261 on-campus students (24% male and 76% female). Online students are also part of the students' group, approximately 2833. The university, whose nickname is Livingston, has a student/teacher ratio of 28:1 for the graduates and 17:1 for the undergraduates. UWA's is made of 39% out-of-state and 61% in-state geography. 85% hold terminal degrees in the University of West Alabama. The school's favorite colors are white and red, and the favorite mascot is the tigers.

The first vector is developing competence. Learning at UWA has increased competence in different learning areas. UWA has instilled academic competence through instilling the right behaviors, attitudes, and interpersonal skills in students. Such competence is seen in the various departments' academic success compared to the neighboring colleges and universities. The second vector is managing emotions (De Larrosa & Butner, 2000). UWA has ensured that students manage emotions through the division of outreach services that help address significant social challenges. The third vector is” moving through autonomy toward interdependence”. UWA has ensured that students become interconnected through the various student admissions from different cultural backgrounds. The university has enrolled different races of students such as 1% international students, 54% minorities, and 45% make up Caucasian students and different gender as earlier discussed. As a result, UWA has established mature interpersonal relationships through the diverse student admissions using the fourth vector of Chickering's theory. The fifth vector concerns establishing identity. The University of West Alabama has a student government association, campus activities board, and the Greek life made up of individuals with different identities. As such, UWA makes it a place for cultural/social heritage and explicit self-concept. Developing purpose is Chickering's theory six vector. The vector applies in UWA as the university helps the student identify the vocational goals and creates oneself after course completion by learning from the different faculties that offer expert instruction. Through such a move, students can discover what they want to fulfill in life by helping students have a versatile learning environment (Black & Allen, 2017). Developing integrity is the seventh vector. The seventh vector applies in UWA through the different academic policies, compliance, and academic support.

The hall of fame spans has players since 1981, which shows the university's interest in sports. The University of West Alabama has weak areas in its student initiatives and development programs, such as high indiscipline cases. The university has experienced a surge in crime statistics, according to the annual safety report made in 2018-2019 and 2017-2018. The reports show that indiscipline has risen through various acts leading to crimes such as missing people and sex offenders.
