There is often a real challenge in reading and understanding the Kentucky Revised Statutes and the Kim Davis, Kentucky Clerk, article even though this might be simple if the readers keep certain points in their mind. For example, the readers need to know statutory definition of certain words such as shall and may especially in the context of statutes. In this regard, with respect to my opinion understanding the statutory terms and their meanings would help an individual to read and understand the organizations mission, code of ethics and goals to ensure they understand their duties before they sign the employment contract. Therefore, I believe that employees who have read an organizations mission, code of ethics and goal have a moral and ethical obligation to perform the organizations mission even if their personal convictions or beliefs conflict with that mission. According to Kim Davis, Kentucky Clerk article, the employers also have a moral obligation and duty to accommodate their workers moral and ethical beliefs. However, I belief this opinion should be informed by organizations code of conduct or code of ethics unless the organization opt to bend certain rules to accommodate the minority.
According to the Kentucky Revised Statutes, even though several organizations are currently bending certain policies, practices and procedures to accommodate employees religious practices beliefs and create enabling work environment for everyone, the employers are still undecided to what extent should this level of accommodation needs to be. This is the reason why I hold a strong belief that organizations should ensure employees stick to the terms and conditions of the contact to avoid such dilemmas. Another concern is with regards to how employers might face the confusion of to what extent they need to allow their workers to enjoy their religious beliefs and practices especially at workplace. Therefore, I believe that for an organization to achieve its main objectives and mission there is need for all employees to perform the organizations mission even if their personal convictions or beliefs conflict with that mission.
