Traditional Classroom
In this type of sitting arrangement, all the students’ desks are placed facing the chalkboard and the teacher’s table. I chose this classroom layout because it is very effective in situations where lessons regularly involve a chalkboard, projectors and chart to do presentations for management. This layout is appropriate for instructor-centered classes like lectures because it puts emphasis on the instructor and their content and is very easy-to-implement even in big class situations. With this layout, the teacher is usually far away from students sitting in the back rows. To prevent students sitting in the last rows from being distracted, losing focus or conversing with others, the spaces between the rows allow the instructor to walk all the way to the back and engage them.
Description
With this sitting arrangement, the desks are arranged in long rows parallel to each other all the way from the instructor’s table. Normally, the edge of the first desk is placed 6 feet away from the instructor’s table and a large gap should be left in between the rows all the way to the back to allow the instructor to walk all the way to the back to encourage student participation. Having the desks split into three rows facing the front is a very effective arrangement for management class discussions and group work. Instructors can also walk in between the rows to see every student and encourage them to participate in conversations.
