There are several barriers and challenges related to written communication. The first barrier is mis-spelling an obstacle that can lead to misunderstanding among the readers ( Jureddi, & Brahmaiah, 2016) . Tone cannot be inferred through writing but is often, construed from reading. So if someone writes something in what the mean to be friendly or joking, the receiver can see it as insulting or condescending. That is the second barrier. A third barrier is to do with concepts of words. Some people have different concepts of the same word depending on the context. Then there is context itself. The writer writes from a different context than the reader reads and must explain the context if they wish to be understood in the way they intend (Dawar, 2016). The lack of feedback or emotional response is also a limiting factor in written communication.
Lack of experience is among the main barriers of written communication that impacts me as a writer. Part of communication is holding the attention of whomever I am communicating with. The more I write, the better I hold the attention of others, and the better I communicate. Written communication is valuable for assuring that I am relating what I intend to communicate without interruption. It also lends itself to taking advantage of the opportunity to cover all the bases with a clarity that is often lost in verbal communication.

By focusing on different techniques, I can overcome this barrier. Developing writing skills requires different techniques and depends on many factors, particularly on my character. Some effective techniques include: Reading to expand my vocabulary, constant practice to gain the experience, learning from other writers, making the content memorable by including rich details, interesting facts and analogies and editing my work more than three-time (Dawar, 2016). By practising these techniques, I will be able to grow as a writer and reach the maximum potential of influencing all the readers through my work.
