JetBlue is an airline that was started in 1998 by current CEO who is also the founder, David Neeleman and has its principal base at the international airport of John F. Kennedy and the headquarters in Long Island City. The company operates low-cost passenger flights to over 80 destinations within the US, including other locations in South America, the Caribbean, and North America (Jetblue.com, 2019). JetBlue Airways Corporation operates more than 1,000 daily flights, and more information about the flights can be accessed through https://www.jetblue.com/ . The airline has been hugely successful due to the fact that it has embraced corporate advertisement rather than product advertisement, making it exceptionally profitable in comparison to other low-cost airlines.

Employee Value Proposition

The company offers workers with compensation packages and benefits that are competitive in the industry as a critical part of demonstrating how much it values their contribution. The packages provided comprise comprehensive medical cover as well as financial gains that are administered by an in-house unit to make the process seamless (Jetblue.com, 2019). The packages consist of guaranteed 5% of salary contributions to the 401(k), a stock purchase plan that discounts 15% of JetBlue stocks purchased, and sharing of profits on an annual basis to eligible workers among other benefits. The company is guided by the slogan “you above all; Inspiring Humanity” (Google.com, 2019). Thus, it has placed more care on its employees and gained trust from them, and the outcome is superb customer care, which reflects the massive success of the company.

Career Section and the Corporate Culture

The career section can be found at the bottom of the company’s website and is easy to navigate as in the career section there is a link for a first officer position and a different link for all the employment positions available. Besides a number of advertisements in the section, there are a number of videos depicting the career opportunities available within the organization (Jetblue.com, 2019). There are also sections for the emerging talent, benefits, veterans, getting to know the company, as well as how to join the organization. It is the openness of the upper management and the consideration for the employees’ welfare, which contribute to a great corporate culture in the organization (Kissel & Büttgen, 2015). Corporate culture is overall habits and attitude of the management and workers collectively and their interaction in handling external business transactions.

Recruitment Strategy

The current ongoing position is the Airport Operations, which involves planning, directing, organization, and supervision of operations. The position will also require candidates to schedule, assign, as well as to conduct training following instructions from the Deputy Director. An ideal candidate for this position will be a people’s person as they will be in constant contact with not only customers but also employees as well as the management (Kaur, Sharma, Kaur & Sharma, 2015). The candidate should be compassionate, organized, and a person who works under minimal supervision, preferably between 25 and 32 years old. Females are highly encouraged to apply even though candidates with customer care and communication skills will have an added advantage.

Social Media Platforms

The best social media platforms that could be used in getting the ideal candidate include LinkedIn, where professionals not only post their curriculum vitae, but the sight has incredible features for recruitment. The platform is perfect as it has a user base of more than 500 million active users, thus offers a great platform to reach candidates with diverse backgrounds. The second best platform is twitter, which like LinkedIn restricts messaging but offers a wide user base and thus, a great place for a low-cost advertisement strategy (Aggerholm & Andersen, 2018). Facebook is another social media with over one billion users and great features for recruitment. These three social media tools also have the advantage of the live video chat feature which simplifies the recruitment process.

The Recruitment Process

The steps involved in the recruitment process will include planning of the exercise, where a comprehensive draft of the specifications for the Airport Operations position will be outlined in details. The next step will be the development of a strategy which will involve identification of the number of candidates expected and the plan for recruiting them into the organization. For fairness, the external sources will be used in the search for the right candidate, which makes it the third step in the recruitment process (Behringer & Sassenberg, 2015). The fourth and last step after receipt of the application letters is the screening of the candidates.

Live Video Broadcast

Facebook Live will be used to attract candidates as the company has a reputable brand and therefore, the social media platform that is leading globally in the number of active users will be the best stream as it will market the company as well. Before the actual live interview, there will be a brief intro from an employee talking about their life working in JetBlue Airways Corporation (Dabirian, Kietzmann & Diba, 2017). During the actual interview, the background of the interviewer will have a large LCD screen showing some of the happy employees and the beautiful work environments which will run but muted. The video will show various sections of the company surroundings, and some of the employees will be seen enjoying some of the company benefits from behind the interviewer.
