The Process of Cultural Competence in the Delivery of Healthcare Services, which encompasses of Cultural desire, Cultural Awareness, Cultural Knowledge, Cultural Skill, and Cultural Encounters is a consciously cultural care model explaining cultural competence like the way through which family, individual or community are cared for. The care deliver is through process whereby healthcare specialists repeatedly strive to attain the availability and ability to work effectively within the clients’ cultural context (Campinha-Bacote, 2015). The Campinha-Bacote model has it that cultural competence in healthcare delivery is a constant process, involving cultural skill, cultural encounter, cultural awareness, cultural desire, as well as cultural knowledge integration.

Cultural awareness is concerned with the procedure of carrying out self-examination on individual biases concerning diverse cultures in addition to an in-depth investigation of individual professional and cultural background. Cultural knowledge is where health professionals tend to both obtain and seek appropriate knowledge concerning cultural diversity where they are required to focus on the prevalence and disease incidence, treatment efficacy, and cultural values as well as on the health-related integrated belief. Cultural skill focusses on the ability to perform a cultural assessment to collect applicable cultural data concerning the presented patient problems in addition to the ability to accurately conduct a physical valuation that is culturally-based. Cultural desire tends to be concerned with the incentive that health professionals have to anticipate during the procedure of incorporating awareness culturally as soon as they gain skills, knowledge, and continuously seeks ethnic encounters. Cultural encounter , on the other hand, is where health professionals tend to be encouraged to participate in direct face-to-face ethnic communications among other kinds of meetings with the people from different cultural upbringings to adjust their existing beliefs towards a particular cultural group.
