Subject: Amendment of the WRIT 106-CB
Although the instructions provided in the College Writing II (WRIT 106-CB) for spring 2019 are relevant, the course syllabus is too detailed. Some of the parts should be amended or removed so that the students can have a precise message. First, the section entitled “Benchmark Language: WRIT 106 (Description of Grades)” should be edited. Each grade should be described using at most two sentences, and it should appear in a tabular form. In particular, I prefer using columns for distinction, excellent, good, average, and poor.
Second, “WRIT 105 and 106 Assessment Criteria” should be removed from the course syllabus. Educators should introduce central claims, debates, argumentative essays, development of ideas, and conferences in the classroom. Besides, learners understand well how to support their points when discussing with their colleagues. Third, the subsection called “Evaluation” should be removed from the course syllabus. In reality, it repeats things that have already been discussed such as the description of grades. Teachers or instructors should ensure that students understand various types of writing and all their requirements before assigning them these tasks. For this reason, the majority of learners would have no challenges when handling classroom activities. Consequently, WRIT 106-CB course syllabus should only depict straightforward information that helps students to prepare for a particular subject.
