Children are prone to falling to tension and stress in custody when a resolution to a dispute is not attained. This may arise as a result of a disagreement between the negotiating parties; for instance, one of the parties may seek a mental health evaluation report. Still, in the process, the opponent may disagree with the results, these results in disagreement, and hence it is the role of the court to ensure they hire a private forensic psychologist to carry out a mental health evaluation and write a report to the court. A large number of opponents are prone to hiring their private forensic psychologist who they use to oppose with the obtained results.

From this article, I have learned that the state is supposed to implement appropriate child custody evaluation guidelines. These evaluation guidelines should provide a useful framework that can be used by forensic psychologists to carry out mental health evaluation and write an accurate report for the court. These evaluation guidelines will assist judges in comparing and drawing a conclusion from various mental health reports they may receive from the opponents. If these custody evaluation guidelines are implemented, they will ease the operations of the judges and reduce the emotional effects on children held in custody. Children will have less exposure to mental health evaluation, and testing and judges will use the acquired evaluation reports to come up with a just conclusion from the obtained results.

From this article, the author has clarified the rationale behind the use of psychological testing in child custody evaluation and its applications.

Yes, the article I chose has given me the morale to research more on child custody evaluation. Published tests have no more application since they do not possess professional standards and guidelines. Child custody evaluators have the role of carefully reviewing any analysis they undertake and support it with appropriate documentation before a just conclusion can be attained. Psychological testing can significantly assist in reducing the number of tests conducted on children. Psychological testing has a significant rationale since it provides us with a child custody evaluation methodology. It describes the impacts of the current testing methodology, review, and a so critique on contemporary custody evaluation techniques and instruments.
