I heard a knock on the door and came rushing downstairs, thinking it was a neighbor. Upon opening the door, I stood dumbfounded and motionless when I saw Edward shivering in the cold. “Edward why did you that?” I asked. I did not expect a reply from him, but he said, “Please, believe me, I am a changed person. I am not the same." Edward had repeatedly assaulted a teenage girl for eight years since she was 12. He always threatened that he would kill her if she reported the matter. During one of his attempts to molest her, Jane hit him hard on the head and rushed out of the house. Edward fearing for a possible arrest escaped from town, and no one had seen him for the past two years until today.
I quickly closed the door behind me and leaned against the wall. His face reignited my anger and desire for revenge. My heartbeat very fast and I wanted to get out and kill him immediately to avenge the harm he had caused Jane. I reached for my pocket with my hands trembling out of anger to call the police but I lacked the energy. Edward kept knocking and begging me to let him in because he was freezing outside. I wanted him to freeze to death and get out of this world. How could I let him into my house knowing his previous criminal record? My sister came down the stairs and was shocked to see my hand trembling. “Who was knocking? Answer me!” she yelled. She pushed me aside, opened the door, and let out a piercing scream. She slammed the door behind and rushed up the stairs. I knew I had to take swift action before Edward takes his revenge on Jane.
