The number of children immigrating to America has been on the increase. The children do not have guardians, which mean they are exposed to dangers such as child labor and trafficking. An interest group that can take on the issue is news reporters and their channels. The reporters are able to investigate the challenge of children immigration from the borders, where most children are separated with their parents to foster homes or other places such as detention (Child Trends, 2018). The news reporters can use different tactics to influence Congress and the President to make policies that will protect immigrant children from abuse and harassment.

The first tactic is continuous reporting on the number of children immigrants moving into America. CNN reporters, for example, have been following the stories of migrant children. They once reported that 13,000 children were in detention, and it was a horrifying reality (Driver, 2018). Such information can be directed to Congress to ensure the protection of these children and ensure that they are settled on moving to America instead of being passed through cruelty.

The other approach that can be applied is appealing from the heart. The news reporters have to make sure that they capture all the horrifying moments’ children immigrants pass through. The information will then be used to appeal to the Congress members and President on their humanity. The reporters can use information such as America being the protector of the world and thus should not let children suffer, yet they are defenseless.

There are other methods that can be sought, such as writing letters to Congress on the issue of children migration. Continuous reporting will also create publicity, and the entire nation will participate in appealing to the President and Congress to assist the children. New reporters can change the situation by passing the right and convincing message.
