Life presents lots of dynamics. There is a season for lows and a season for highs. That happens differently from person to person. Life defines moments in a man’s life when they undergo absolute pain that necessitates divine touch and intervention. That explains a time when one has little to offer and as such, requires an extra school of thought that act as a voice of reason to his/her predicament. With that, comes the place of counseling. Counselors come in various shades, for instance, secular counselors, Christian counselors, among others. 0ne major goes of these professionals is to ensure healing, support and restoration are experienced by the client. They need to feel a lease of life after the sessions. Christian counselors utilize biblical concepts and ideas to provide a solution to the current predicament of their faithful’s.

A biblically based portrayal of Christian counseling

The Bible contains the content from which Christian faithful’s rely upon for direction and guidance. The bible acts an anchor that the Christian counselor uses to deliver and shape the client into what is required of them. According to Collins (2014), Christian counseling has emphasis and focus on intertwining psychology and the disciplines of faith to give an approach to emotional and mental that is derived from biblical teachings. A biblically based portrayal of Christian counseling involves the use of religious teachings to provide guidance through challenging issues of life. Arguably, Collins (2014) further noted that when an individual is faced with the violent turn of events in life, strengthening and integration of your faith systems might be the missing link for effective therapy. A biblically based Christian counselor can assist an individual to navigate through challenging life issues in a manner that respect and shows decorum to your faith.

The Bible presents different scenarios and situations that people faced from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Helminiak (2016) asserted that i n almost every case, there was a unique manner of administering the therapy. The Bible remains the principal guiding factor. In the same way, Christian counseling applies a wide range of therapeutic approach that can be used to a vast array of situations. People have different experiences in life, and that implores that they have various personal issues. Christian counseling takes keen consideration of your faith and embraces it as part of the healing process.

A representation of current Christian and secular theories that supports counseling methods.

Hawkins, Siang-Yang and Turk (2015) confirmed that secular counseling functions on a bio-psychosocial aspect of human advancement and behavior. It advances on human development concerning psychological, biological, and social impacts within a particular environment. Christian theories of counseling are majorly founded on the biblical and psychological aspects of humans.

Representation of both Christian and secular theories of counseling would, therefore, produce a hybrid of in the model of counseling. Integration of the varied schools of thought would result in a hybrid mix. Kirwan (2017) clarified that s pirituality remains a central dispatch that defines the life of an individual, and thus, its integration during counseling would be of crucial benefit. Though Traditional psychological models and theories were premised upon naturalism and inadequate Christian worldview, virtually not the entire view of secular psychology were incorrect. That, therefore, necessitates the necessity for integration. The representation of secular and Christian concepts will assist in providing a useful and all-around professional advice on a particular issue. The worldview and the Christian perspective are put into effect. Solutions become eminent, and hope is restored to the client more smoothly and efficiently ( Kirwan, 2017)

How to address specific problem areas from both a Christian and secular perspectives, such as fear, perfectionism, guilt, depression, and low self-esteem.

Problems are bound to occur in the course of the life of a person. The issues range from fear, perfectionism, guilt, depression, and low self-esteem. The issues can best be addressed by using an integrative therapy that incorporates both Christian and secular perspective. That helps in exploring the problem in several ways until a solution is acquired. Several counseling methods, for instance, the cognitive behavioral theory can be used. Such therapy will take care of both your emotional and mental well-being and further study the symptoms that can lead to such a problem ( McMinn, 2012) . An evaluation for instance self-auditing is done to evaluate an individual’s current status. That assists in ascertaining the issues might be delving a person. Secular methods are also brought into space to help analyses issues past experiences or biologically related matters. That helps in achieving a comprehensive audit of the problem at hand. An additional focus is given to the spiritual health and personal intimacy with God. Christianity holds the belief that through spiritual therapy, a person’s mental concerns, personal problems and emotional instability can be replaced by an improvement in the feeling of self-worth and a touch of spiritual fulfillment ( Hawkins, Siang-Yang & Turk, 2015) . As part of the therapy, a Christian counselor offers prayer and scripture readings, assistance in ethical decision making among other things.

Your perspective as to whom we can apply, when we can apply, and how we can apply a spiritual approach to those who are ill and in recovery.

Spiritual approach is essential during counseling especially when applied to the correct person. The mental approach refers to them that ascribe to a particular religion. The spirituality of a person should be analyzed before taking such an approach. Somebody can be an atheist or of a different religion far from the counselor. The spiritual path, therefore, applies to them with a “spiritual” background and their hopes are based on that particular belief system.

Everyone is unique and brings forth different issues for counseling, and the therapists check to see if the spiritual approach can work or not. Administration of this strategy comes in different ways. One can experience exclusive healing and restoration by sharing their life story in a private, safe and non-judgment zone. That may be entirely all they ever wanted. The majority want an opportunity to share their greatest fears and in turn, receive an assurance that shall be well. The certainty and aspect of speaking life into the situation of the victim is enough therapy. It is essential to assure people of a supreme being who is entirely in control and makes things to turn in our favor despite the situation.

Application of spiritual approach to those who are ill or in recovery sessions is significant. It is important to share some fair share of your time with them and demonstrate love them. In the process, get the victims some gifts and encourage them in the process. Find some encouraging scriptural messages to them and assist them with study plans. Help them with the means of ethical decision making. Such simple acts of mercy and love are sufficient to assure their healing process.

In conclusion, it is notable that both Christian and secular counseling serves vital roles. Integration of the methods provides a better mix of understanding the problem of the victim. People are faced with various issues every day, and that necessitates the need for counselors. Spiritual approaches offer faster cure for people who are distressed and are in recovery pages.
