The two nonprofit organizations include Amnesty International and Cuso international. Amnesty International is based in London and works to bolster human rights across the world. Cuso International also works with local people in member countries with the aim of improving the lives of people living in inequality and poverty. Clark, (2010) asserted that Amnesty International achieves its goals by pressuring nations to adhere to international laws and standards. It also collects public opinions and put pressure on governments to abhor cases of abuse. On the other hand, Cuso International partners with the member country to enhance equality and alleviate poverty by promoting equitable and sustainable development (Brouwer, 2013). Through this, the respective societies can become better as a result of the presence of a third party willing to keep the government in check.

Organizations such as Amnesty International and Cuso have far-reaching benefits not only on the individual but the community at large. Most democratic countries across the world that employ the rule of law have a provision on human rights. However, many countries especially the developing nations have had cases of disregard of human rights. Poverty and inequality issues have also rocked these countries leading to the suffering of citizens. These two organizations have devoted to collecting public opinion and petitioning countries to promote life and general well-being of its citizens. As member countries remain accountable for international statutes, leaders work to ensure that they promote equality, human rights, and shun any form of travesty against the people.

Anheier, (2014) asserted that the main policy position promoted by these organizations revolves around governments working with its people to create empowerment and sustainability. Based on my experience, the role of a citizen within their community is to adhere to the laws and contribute positively to the future of the nation. The nonprofit organizations such as Amnesty and Cuso ensure that the role of a citizen in their country remains protected.
