The Country or region of focus will be America.
The climate change problem this America faces is “The problem of many hands” ( Van de Poel, Fahlquist, Doorn, Zwart, and Royakkers, 2012)

As I was reading the article, the two specific challenges that I had to overcome and how I overcame them. The main challenge I faced was connecting the philosophical aspect of “many hands” and the reality of climate change. I overcame the challenge by denoting to “many hands” as diligent responsibility towards climate change.
Overall, something about the article that reinforces or expands my understanding of the climate change problem facing American is; some of the factors leading to climate change are often ignored and seem trial, never worth giving much consideration. For example, the problem of many hands provides a unique perspective of the role of collective responsibility in solving the rising challenge of climate change.
The three quotes from the article that best captures how the article addresses climate change challenges in my America are:
Van de Poel, Fahlquist, Doorn, Zwart and Royakkers (2012) quotes that best capture climate change challenges in America are:
1 st Quote
“ Most people do not ascribe responsibility to an agent unless she appears to have contributed causally to that for which she is held responsible.”
2 nd Quote
“ Accidents appear to be the result of highly complex coincidences which could rarely be foreseen by the people involved.”
3 rd Quote
“ Where a mishap is the work of “many hands,” it may not be obvious who is to blame because frequently its most salient and immediate causal antecedents do not converge with its locus of decision-making.”
How the above quotes are related to climate change problem that I am researching. I do support my initial response to the problem. Yes they better make me understand the climate change problem that I am exploring, but also confusing through some factors. Individual responsibility is compounded by the fact that people fail to understand their responsibility towards a progressive cause that prevents a problem and reduces its occurrence. The quotes and the article as a whole sharpen my understanding on climate change as a phenomenon that calls for holistic responsibility.
