Arguably, adequate supervision is the most significant activity in the workplace. It is a consultation opportunity on the current practice and debriefing on past practices. Consequently, adequate supervision enhances skills and knowledge through skills practice, pertinent research discussion, and feedback on job performance, and creation of self-awareness. Therefore, a good supervisor should act as an educator to the new employees and team members. Also, they should coach employees when correcting, planning, encouraging, explaining or just checking in with their workers. However, some supervisors ask their supervisees to get involved in the therapeutic situations that are beyond the scope of their training and experience. In health care field, there are various clinical and ethical issues that might be involved in case of inadequate supervision.

Health care workers are likely to face various challenges in their work places. However, they require adequate clinical supervision that offers them ideal working environment. Therefore, healthcare workers are likely to be demotivated in case of an inadequate clinical supervision. Additionally, they might not be client-centered, thus failing to safeguard client care standards. Unquestionably, ethics within healthcare are essential since medical practitioners must recognize healthcare dilemmas and make good decisions and judgments. Supervisors should ensure that trainees do not work with family members as it is unethical. Clinical standards dictate that trainees should neither conduct therapy sessions alone nor work with abused children without the guidance of licensed practitioners. Adequate supervision enables healthcare practitioners to base their decisions and judgments on their values while adhering to the laws that govern them. Some of the ethical issues that might emerge due to inadequate supervisions may include lack of maintenance and development of the necessary knowledge and skills by the healthcare workers. Also, they may lack to continually update their training and consider all patients’ individual circumstances (Fisher, 2020). They may also use procedures that harm patients and other society members. Therefore, it is vital to have adequate supervision in healthcare setting.
