I had quite an exciting day at Black Bear. The clinical experience was enjoyable and pretty educational. Alyssa and I were assigned to work with nurses tasked with passing male patient medications. As they handed the patients morning medications, we observed a significantly different process from our previous clinical days. Each patient provided a form filled in by themselves under the guidance of their resident assistants. In the forms, vital signs, symptoms, and the struggles experienced by the patient are documented. Patients are also required to state something positive such as good progress in the forms, which are meant to keep care providers informed.
Immediately after receiving medication, all the patients joined their daily groups. The first group, about PAWS, discusses the symptoms experienced by patients after detox. The symptoms include depression, anxiety, brain fog, cravings, coordination issues, among many other signs. The first group discussed the symptoms and effective measures to deal with them and encouraged them on how the symptoms will eventually pass. The second group was about advising the patients that things are sometimes meant to be the way they are, and therefore people must always find a way of accepting and moving forward. In the group, the patients were also encouraged to identify the good out of a situation and make the best out of it instead of letting things that they had no power to control eat them alive.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Black Bear is characterized by multiple help groups and individual meetings in addition to therapy. The healthcare practice is fully equipped with Doctors, Nursing Practitioners, and therapists to deal with a diverse range of medical health complications. Given the current Coronavirus pandemic, the hospital has a policy of testing each patient for the virus ones every week. Therefore, we performed the weekly covid testing later in the day. Together with another nurse, we swabbed all the male patients, after which Alyssa tested them all for the virus.
