The lesson attended was crucial in revealing the application of SIOP in teaching strategies for the teachers. The experience scored about 87% in terms of applying the SIOP strategies during class instruction. This is a high score and means that the instructors made significant attempts to use SIOP in education. From my observation, I think that the students were not fully aware of content objectives. I think they mostly enjoyed replying to the teacher and sitting in groups. However, I found that the students were aware of the class language, which was English. They understood the instruction and the content taught and exhibited advanced reading skills. 

The teachers mainly instructed the content and language objectives by using visual aids such as photographs in a presentation and demonstration through simulation of concepts using the students, which is crucial in SIOP (Echevarria, Vogt & Short, 2017) . For instance, she asked the students to express anger through simulation. Simulation is an important teaching strategy within the SIOP framework because it allows students to be practical about the content taught in class.

I noticed that the student group configuration was grouping the students in smaller groups during the reading class. The students were mixed racially, and the reading lesson encompassed racial and equality issues that the teacher explained to the students by teaching them that all students are equal (Viscusie, 2017). Dividing the students into reading groups, in mixed races achieved the reading lesson objectives. 

I realized that the teacher accommodated the different ELP levels by matching the peers within different smaller groups during the lessons. For instance, during the reading lesson, the instructor would occasionally ask the students to discuss among themselves a question asked. This grouping is significant because the students learn from each other.
