Question 1

The memory of an individual may age in either a normal or an abnormal period. An average loss of memory constitutes of the ability to function normally despite the occasional loss of memories. Moreover, normal memory loss is characterized by instances of recalling of an incident with some evident signs of forgetfulness. People suffering from normal memory loss may find it quite challenging to get the right word but have the ability to hold normal conversations (Stillman et al., 2016). On the contrary, abnormal loss of memory is characterized by the inability of holding discussions due to forgetfulness and constant repetition. Besides that, people with an abnormal loss of memory fail to recall events or names of people and could have trouble while handling simple duties. Some of the early methods of recognizing Alzheimer’s disease are the permanent loss of memory and a reduction in the cognitive abilities (Verburgh et al., 2016). The Mediterranean diet has been proven effective in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease since it helps in boosting people’s memory. An individual can function without the memory types since if one lacks the sensory organs, logic will take control.

Question 2

Selective attention is defined as the process and the ability to focus on an object for quite some duration. In most cases, this kind of attention enables individual to select the relevant matters and pay the required attention (Palmer et al., 2014). Some people fail to have the selective attention since they are easily distracted from their actual point of focus. As seen in the awareness test in the first video, it is easy to miss out something that one is not focusing on. For instance, in the trial, one was required to calculate the number of passes made by the white team, which added up to thirteen. However, a viewer is likely to miss the passing moon walking bear since they are concerned with the calculation of the number of passes (Root et al., 2015). One of the possible strategies for improving selective attention is the avoidance of any form of distraction while paying attention to an object. Improved focus would help in ensuring that one does not miss the most critical aspects of learning.
