Collaborative Learning Activities: Jigsaw, Double Grid Journal, Think Aloud

Collaboration is the act of togetherness in working with people of different interests in an organized setting with the aim of producing something. Collaboration is also defined as the joining of efforts and resources of multiple individuals to accomplish a task or a particularly given project. Collaboration is an educational approach where teaching and learning are done at the same time within a group of students with the aim of solving problems. According to (Hayden, 2012) the following are ways to apply collaborative learning 

Jig-saw Strategy 

Each group member, after learning a piece of information from a significant quantity of material to be acquired teaches members of the group. It is also known as reciprocal teaching. 

Use of a Double Grid Journal 

All group members are issued with journals to fill them independently with solutions to course problems, later on; they are exchanged and circulated within the group for learning. It is mostly applicable to research assignments. 

Think Aloud Problem Solving. 

Here questions are given to a group, one member with the knowledge of the subject explains while the others keep listening and contributing.
