Overview
The main aim of this project is to interact with members of the Autism Society Hispanic Outreach of Ventura County and ensuring effective communication practices. Recent literature on organization culture shows that effective communication practices are at the heart of proper functioning and operation. The primary task is to relay messages from the group members to the professor on the progress made as well interact with the project partners. Through the interaction with the Autism Society Hispanic Outreach of Ventura County, the mission of the project is to undertake various even planning as a useful measure of creating awareness of Autism Spectrum disorder as it affects members of the Hispanic community. Making arrangements with the Autism Society was mainly at the onset of the preparation plans. However, things seemed to get smoother as we resolved the communications problems and developed appropriate plans for collaboration. The following report is a depiction of the outcomes of the program in quantifiable measures and narrative form.
Quantifiable Measures for Outcomes
The Toy Drive event that was held a few weeks back was a show of support from our project team members and the Autism Society Hispanic Outreach of Ventura County for all Hispanics in the area suffering from the disease. Due to the high expenditure that parents may incur in terms of health care for their mentally ill children, coming up with toys and funds that could help supply enough toys for the Christmas holiday was perceived as a good deed. Numerous people in the community do not support the idea of participating in such events believing that they are better ways of providing to these needy members of society other than just offering gifts. There have been cases of some families usually experiencing hardship during this time of the year. However, with minimal access to the numerous families in Ventura County and the struggles they encounter, it is near impossible to offer any other form of assistance.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The Toy Drive was mostly a success as there were over 1,500 gift donations donated by the individual members who attended. We had posted the event on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as a useful measure of reaching out to the most significant number of people in Ventura County. The event received over 5,000 likes for the charity event while over 10,000 people promised to make toy donations or relevant givings in this time of sharing with the needy. It is holidays like these that bring the people of California together as they seek to help one another through sharing. The posts on Instagram of the individuals who attended the events were posted on Instagram and shared via the hashtag #ToyDrive #AutismHispanicSocietyVentura. Numerous individuals were able to find their pictures and like them while tagging themselves to the photos. Despite the end of the event, embers of the community can still donate the gifts they have to the offices of Autism Society Hispanic Outreach of Ventura County.
Importance and Impact of Project
The process of coming up with the project in collaboration with the Autism Society Hispanic Outreach of Ventura County is following a long-held tradition in American culture of gift-giving during Christmas holiday. All over the country, working adults identify ways of showing their loved ones of their sincere love and adoration for them. The practice has become part of the holiday proceeding such that those who are unable to afford to buy gifts feel left out and out of place. There is a common belief that not providing for the children an appropriate gift in accordance with their wildest and achievable dreams may create a feeling that they are not loved. In this regard, through our Toy Drive event, we were able to make individual children all around Ventura County feel the love not only from their parents but also from the entire community.
Toy Drive events are frequent all around the United States that seek to show some level of love and compassion for the needy members of society. The Toys for Tots is a similar charity event that is run by the US Marine Corps Reserve as it collects unwrapped toys that are age-appropriate from October through to December just in time for the Christmas. Our event is different from that mentioned earlier as it is primarily intended for families that are affected by Autism. The incidence of mental health conditions has become more prone than was the case in previous years. The parents who are raising children suffering from the disease are likely to feel stretch financially due to the additional expenditure in healthcare and education as they seek to help with coping. While we are not able to offer financial assistance, we feel that the provision of toys touches a unique child, enabling them to know they are in our thoughts and prayers.
In this independent society of the modern age, people spend the majority of the year struggling with their issues. Majority of people feel that they are too busy to even participate in charity events. Others may think that they do not have adequate funds to offer significant help even when they wish to take part in such programs. However, during this period of festivities, members of the community are in luck due to the numerous discounts available at local stores. Majority of the retailers available at Ventura County and in the surrounding neighbourhoods offer Black Friday discounts during Thanksgiving as they seek to maximize their profits. These offers are an opportunity for those who may feel that the toys are of exorbitant costs; hence, they can engage to the best of their ability.
