In the 21 st Century, there are generic skills necessary for guiding and solving the problems which might be present in both the academic and professional environments. Looking at the profession of psychology and its practice, there are various aspects and skills necessary for the success of the discipline. This discussion entails the analysis of the essential psychology skills which when inculcated by individual students or practitioners, may result in the success of the profession and scholarly works. 

One of the most renowned competencies and skills which a potential psychologist is expected to imbibe is critical thinking. With this skill, I will be capable of analyzing and solving psychology related dilemmas. These skills can be categorized as collaborative and complex problem-solving skills ( Neubert et al, 2015). In addition to these, there are necessary skills and competencies such as ethics, patience, numeracy, research, and communication prowess. In the interview, I was able to learn that attitude change is a necessary skill which can shape up the psychological learning process and practice of the same. (Povee, & Roberts, 2014).

In the field of psychological learning and practice, there are various attributes which might be assumed yet when looked at critically, they can help me to clarify my vision and assist me in achieving success. These in some extent can be personal attributes such as honesty, humility, and problem-solving mechanisms. Importantly, I should ensure that my interpersonal skills are apt to the expected duties in the psychological profession. It is the responsibility of organizations to see into it that they recruit individuals who are capable of interacting with other people easily (Bedwell et al, 2014). 

Conclusion 

It is, therefore, necessary that I should ensure that I am in a position to commendably comprehend personal attributes and the professional skills to ensure the success of my practice in the field of psychology. In addition, my academic performance should also be complementary to the acquisition of skills that will enable me to practice psychology.
