Purpose of the survey
The primary objective of the study was to conduct a climate change analysis and evaluate the people understanding of global warming. Some of the highlighted sections of the study were; what are some of the cause of global warming, the indicators of global warming, impacts of climate change and some of the mitigation activities that can be done to lessen the effects of climate change (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 2015).
The chosen sample for the survey was the college and university student who comprise of ages 17 to 26 years. The reason for the selection of this age bracket is that with the debates on climate change, they are in the prime of transforming the next generation as they are leaders of tomorrow and are likely to run many America businesses in next 15 years. However, the survey provided interesting findings as most of the college students despite knowing climate change exist many of them did not know the details of climate change and how it will potentially affect their livelihoods in the future.

Therefore, the survey aimed at identification of the gap that exists in the young generation, not well-being conversant with the issues of climate change, there was a need for the kids to be educated on impacts of climate change. Moreover, the primary strategy to target the young people is that they are likely to change their views regarding many decisions being undertaken today only if they understand impacts of climate change.
Climate change is noted to affect all businesses in the future and will the colleague student learning it they will develop their businesses from a sensitive climate viewpoint and make better decisions. Moreover, well-informed students’ means they can take advantage of climate change and develop businesses that will potentially benefit from the changes as opposed to being negatively affected.
Pitfalls experienced in creating the survey
Demographic questions are susceptible especially when introduced at the beginning of the study. The primary interest for the population issues is to have a better understanding of the sample group. However, I experienced a lot of resistance from the college students as they felt their privacy was being interfered. Therefore, a lot of time was spent trying to convince the students that the results of the survey will only be used use for research purposes and the information was confidential. Moreover, a student who found the questions annoying potentially reduced the response rate of the survey.
Inadequate response options were experienced in the review as many students felt that their replies were not well covered in all the scenarios for the respondents. Moreover, given that the research was qualitative there was a higher probability of the questions overlapping and redundancy of the questions. Therefore, in some issues, this resulted in the creation of confusion among the respondents which occurred to incorrect response data. This translated to a lot of time being used to clean data.
Climate change has hit many headlines in American news, and I had an assumption that the students had prior knowledge about the topic and experience. However, while collecting the data, it proved interesting where approximately 40% of the students sampled did not have any prior knowledge on the effects and impacts of climate change. Students at the tertiary level are expected to have most of the information that will potentially affect their daily business example climate change but with the lack of a clear understanding of the implications and effects of climate change quickly translated to the confusion created which meant inconsistency in the data collected.
Specific instructions for conducting the survey
Administration
The survey was administered in three primary methods. First, there was mail survey where students were sent the questionnaires to their inboxes, and upon filling, they're emailed back to the enumerator. The enumerator then upon cleaning data later compiled for the researcher. Second, personal interviews, the interviewer administered the questionnaire to the respondent and the interviewer recorded the responses to survey questions. Third, focus groups were conducted on different teens to get a more standard response from the students on the issues of climate change and how they felt it affected them. Moreover, during focus groups, the discussions that were raised were more of general opinions and the informant was given an opportunity to provide necessary insights on the different topics about climate change and get a response from the students concerning their view.
Scoring
To score a question in the survey on needs to be in the scoring editor. Therefore, scoring different questions types of works are very similar different question types have different additional scoring features. For the survey based on 1 to 10, the highest scores were assigned to issues that deal with the student's ability to identify climate change effects, impacts of climate change and the mitigation measures of climate change. The issues that receive the lowest score involved demographic questions which in the survey were not very critical in the analysis; these items were used for identification purposes and reduce incidences of redundancy.
Interpretation of the survey
The analysis of the study was based on three techniques to make the raw data responses more interpretable. First, the percentage of the respondents who agreed on different questions that requested for a yes/no response. Second, top-box scoring, this interpretation checked on the number of people in parentage who preferred the first choices placed in multiple questions. Third, net top box, this entailed finding the difference in the top box choices selected subtraction on those who strongly agree by subtracting those who strongly disagreed.
