This paper aims at giving in-depth information on David Perdue, the senator of Georgia State elected on a Republican Ticket. Perdue filled the seat which was initially held by Senator Saxby Chambliss who announced his retirement and declared that he would not go for reelection in 2014. During the 2014 elections, Perdue trounced Amanda Swafford and Michelle Nunn. In the Republican Party primary runoffs, Perdue defeated Jack Kingston and ended up being the Republican candidate. Born in 1949, David Perdue is a businessman and a senator serving since 2015. He is the first cousin of the former Governor for Georgia, Sonny Perdue who is the sitting United States Secretary of Agriculture. Perdue began his business life more than ten years ago as a management consultant. He later became a Vice President at Sara Lee Corporation in 1992. During the next ten years, Perdue worked in Reebok and Haggar clothing. Since he could not fix problems at Pillowtex which he had joined in 2002, he left after nine months with a big buyout. Next, Perdue joined the Dollar General where he managed to get a turnout. He later worked with the Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd that expressed several interests in India including textile mills. Before joining politics, Perdue established a global trading firm in Georgia, Atlanta. 

David Perdue was born in Georgia to David Alfred Perdue Senior and Gervaise Wynn who were both school teachers. Perdue was raised in Georgia. He completed Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1972 and a Master’s Degree in Operations Research in 1975. Perdue married Bonnie Dunn and the couple lives in Sea Island. Together they have two sons Blake Perdue and David Perdue III and three grandchildren. Perdue relied on his business experience especially at Dollar Center to run for the political office in the Republican Party. Perdue in his statement indicated that he had created job opportunities for the youths and doubled the value of the Dollar General Company within a short time. Perdue was honored by the National Federation Independent Business.

During the political campaigns, Perdue's opponents targeted his business particularly for outsourcing the work offshore. Critics, however, said that Perdue had contributed to the many jobs that had been lost because of the final closure of Pillowtex. After winning the Senate seat for Georgia, Perdue indicated that he was interested in bringing the attitude of a working person in Washington. Some of the committees that Perdue has served include the committee of the Agriculture, and Nutrition, Committee on budget and committee on foreign relations as well as the special committee on aging. Perdue supports policies on the independence of energy and bracing American manufacturing thus increasing exports to help in creating jobs for long term economic growth. Also, he openly supports actions enforcing laws that can secure the American borders. He strongly supports Israel and opposes gun control; he also opposes same-sex marriage and common core. 

Perdue is a successful business leader with nearly four decades of experience building and developing some of the most recognized companies in the United States. While working in the business world, he acquired an understanding of the world economy and the effect that the policies have on the business. Perdue has worked in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Even so, he heavily relies on the values he had acquired from his upbringing in Georgia. He has proven himself as an international business leader and has settled in his home in Georgia. Before joining the United States Senate, he was part of the board of directors of some of the major cofounders and corporations in the United States. He was recently appointed to the Georgia Ports Authority and a treasurer and trustee of the Georgia Tech Foundation. 

On healthcare issues, Senator Perdue has strongly supported the repeal of Patient Protection and Affordable Act. The senator believes that the Obama care is failing and thus there should be look for other ways of dealing with healthcare issues. Senator Perdue also introduced the Stark Administrative Act which has helped in decreasing burden on healthcare providers. The legislation proposed by Senator Perdue provide a way of addressing violations, self-disclose procedural issues as well as create cost saving for the federal government.
