Dementia is defined as “a neurocognitive disease characterized by progressive, global deterioration in intellectual abilities including memory, learning, orientation, language, comprehension and judgement” ( Toh, Ghazali, & Subramaniam, 2016 ). The disease is very common, especially among the old people since aging is a contributing factor to its occurrence. Cognitive Stimulation Theory (CST) is a therapy used as an intervention therapeutic method for people with dementia (Cove et al. 2014). The effectiveness of the CST method depends on factors such as the number of sessions taken by the patient and the carer, as well as the time taken for the sessions. Carers who administer the CST therapy do not necessarily have a formal training, and it is such elements that put at risk the effective administration of CST. As a way of addressing dementia, it is important to understand the CST model, and do achieve this, suitable scholarly references are necessary. Therefore, this paper will provide four scholarly sources in an annotated bibliography format as a means of presenting references with ideas that support and discuss aspects of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy as a means of treating dementia.
