The concept of diversity means understanding that each person is unique and recognizing our individual differences. It entails recognizing our individual differences along the following dimensions: race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, and political beliefs, among other dimensions or ideologies (Lee, n.d.). In the workplace environment, diversity refers to the employment of a workforce comprised of individuals of varying age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, education, and other attributes. This results in better collaboration and pro-social behavior, which leaves less room to discriminate. A workforce that recognizes their individual differences communicate and socialize more (Holck, 2018). Extensive communication and socialization allow a diverse workforce to tighten social unity. In addition, it allows individual members to stand out as private, unique individuals.
