Over the past years, dress code and school rules have increasingly become core pillars in developing and promoting quality education. Each educational institution in existence such as schools, colleges and universities has a set of procedures that govern certain elements such as the mode of dressing. Dress code and school rules concepts are intertwined. It follows that the mode of dressing by teachers and students is largely affected by the laws of nature applicable. The dressing code refers to a list of rules proposed and enacted by an institution on the type of clothing worn to be adhered to. It’s observed purposeful on given events or occasions. The dress code adopted by an institution is based on its perceptions and culture which emanate from the society (Raby, 2010). At schools some common codes of dressing include students wearing appropriate footwear in many occasions with sandals being prohibited. Likewise, shirts and tops are proposed to cover the midriff of the students. An institution can revise and enforce new dress codes on certain events. However, this should not violate the constitutional rights of the student such as culture (Fayokun et al, 2009). The observance of the dressing code is important in many ways. Firstly, it enhances students to fully concentrate on their studies which in turn push their success and achievement to scaling heights. Secondly, a stimulating atmosphere for growth of desired behavior can be achieved with reduced social conflicts and peer pressure. School rules is as entire principle of prescriptions and procedures set by the school management to be followed by all to enhance a peaceful co-existence for attainment of goals. They are based on the values of safety, courtesy and sense towards facilitating learning outcomes (Jacob et al., 2016). The procedures control all elements in the institution such as discipline and dress code. School rules apply to any learning institution. Some of the most common rules include; respect among students, protecting school property, proper time management among others. The availability of the laws is of great significance to both the teachers and students. To begin with, they are known to maintain order in the institution. When all stakeholders observe rules and regulations, unity and teamwork are promoted the sense of harmony and peace prevails. All of the above, the existing rules aims to prepare students for adulthood responsibilities. Students are taught the dressing codes, how to behave as well as being in alignment with the policies and regulations of an organization. It is evident that the existence of both the dress code and school rule principles in education develops and perpetuates the image of both the student and the institution. Thereafter, the desired goals and objectives can be attained. These concepts are based on the safety, courtesy and sense with regard to norms. Institutions therefore, should develop systems that set to implement the most preferred and sound modes of dressing as well as school rules. However, these set prescriptions and procedures are required to go in hand with the constitutional rights of the students and other members. When any educational institution puts all these in consideration, definitely there will be smooth flow of operations that leads to realization of the goals.
