Dyslexia is a learning disorder that may affect the ability of reading, writing and speaking well. Educators need skills to educate and train a dyslexic student. Dyslexic students need special care and attention while being taught by their various educators. It’s interesting to learn that most educators don’t really understands on how dyslexic students behavior and how they are incapable f writing and reading. It is then important for teachers to learn that writing is process for these students that entail synthesizing of thoughts, working out your thoughts and finally the physical act of writing. It is also an interesting fact to learn that it is usually a struggle for a dyslexic student to master automated processes; these students get a hard time in arranging and organizing things. It is therefore made easy for them by creating some kind of model to follow while arranging things. It is also interesting to learn that dyslexic’s students are creative and innovating (Wilson, 2012).

In order for dyslexics students to get maximum of what they learn it is important to allow accommodations and modifications to suit them. It is an in interesting fact to learn that dyslexic students might need special treatments when it comes to examinations or assessment tests. This is where accommodations and modifications comes into play and are crucial for any dyslexic student. Accommodations are test adaptations that are meant to aid the student in following and undertaking instructions. . The purpose of accommodation is to ensure equal access to the full school experience for dyslexic’s students. Accommodations may include, providing extended time during examinations, providing audio format when writing. Accommodations do not change the content of instructions provided. There are four types of accommodation, presentation where students are allowed access to instructional materials including verbal instructions. In response accommodation students are allowed alternatives for completion of activities. The other two types include setting and timing. Modification allows the students to demonstrate what they know but the contents of instructions are reduced in some way. Modifications lower the performance expectations. The complexity of the task may be lessened in order to aid dyslexic students. It is therefore a critical decision in choosing between accommodation and a modification for future educational choices (Cushen, 2011).
