Early Adulthood Case Study

The desire for the young adults in the nation revolves around the need to get a stable life and have the ability to provide for all the needs in their life. Since the couple have just graduated and have just started working, the possibility of the relationship lasting and ending up in marriage is minimal. Even though they have a physical chemistry, the way the two handle their disputes brings a great rift between the two. Every young adult has the desire to ensure that all the goals they have set are achieved (“Supplementary Material for Perceived Discrimination and Personality Development in Adulthood”, 2015). This is well illustrated in their personal attributes. The same is evident in the couple since they have just finished their studies and have started off their carrier life each trying to stabilize and attain all the plans they have set forth.

In a study carried out by Jeffrey Jensen who interviewed over 300 young adults, the findings showed that most of the individuals were in the process of self-identification and trying out different ideas so as to have a better life style (Pikunas, J., & Albrecht, E. J. (nd)). Since the couple had just finished their studies and had started working, each one of them would want to follow after their own dreams and goals so as to live the kind of life that they desire. This is evident through the case of Dave as he seems reluctant to move over to Chicago where Sarah is. This is because he is scared of the trend in the economy situation. The idea of starting over to search for a new job makes it hard for him to move over to the other city to start a new life with the girlfriend.

Furthermore, the difference in approaching situations when mad will make it hard for the two to end up together. The presence of both individuals not being ready to face the issues that they are facing in their relationship will make it hard for the two to speak out their minds. Dave is out spoken when mad and this shows his inability to express the issues that he has with Sarah. Thus he will end up not telling Sarah about the decision he has on the matter of moving in with her in Chicago.

Statistics show that most individuals who have seen their parents going through a divorce are usually have a problem getting into a serious relationship. Such individuals usually have the desire to get into better relationships than what they saw happening in their families. This will also affect the decisions that the couple will make towards their current status. These factor will make it hard for the relationship to work out.

Both individuals have purpose in their lives and both desire to achieve them. In the case of Sarah, she has the boldness to air out here desires and objectives in life. On the other hand, Dave has a problem when it comes to expressing crucial issues in his life. Moreover, since the couple are age mates, the ability for them to work out the relationship is against the odds in the current society (Kroger, 2017). The average age for ladies to get married is at 24 while for most male adults is 28. This is because most male individuals in the society have the target of getting established first before getting married.

In conclusion, the possibility for Sarah and Dace to end up together is minimal. This is brought about by the difference in personality and also the ability to handle situations when things get tough. The age bracket in which they fall will not allow them to attain the desired goals in their lives as they both expect.
