The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gough possesses numerous interpretations due to human life's vast emotions and expressions. Van Gough created the oil on canvas masterpieces in 1889, a few months before his death. Therefore, it is believed that the painting depicts the view of the sky at night from his bedroom window. Van Gough depicts a starry night brimming with brightness and energy over fields of olive and blue hills, a silent village below, a tall cypress tree reaching to the sky, and a church. I recreated Van Gough's masterpiece by folding two clothes to represent sky movement and yellow shapes to show the bright sky. The Starry night and my recreation both use similar colors and lines and express the theme of the beauty of the sky at night.

Van Gogh's Starry Night is a masterpiece that depicts emotions through subjective expression using thick sweeping brushstrokes that unite the village and sky above. Art is a medium of reality, fantasies, and emotions using abstract metaphors. Van Gogh uses gyrate cartwheels, bright yellow burning rockets, and cosmic fireworks swirling against the sky (Ghani, 2014). Similarly, shares the thematic aspects of natural beauty using the yellow balls and banana to represent heavenly bodies, swirled clothes to depict the clouds' movement, and a wig representing the tall tree in the village. The innovative objects maintain the theme of heavenly beauty and sky movement at night.

Most artworks represent lines, shape, color, and movement as a form of expression and aesthetics. The striking intense, and bold color, contoured forms, and emphatic brushwork reveal the emotions of Van Gogh (Li, 2010). Similarly, the recreation depicts emotional expression through the formal elements of art like by curving the objects to create curvy lines and using bright colors like yellow and blue. However, the different mediums used in the creation of the two artworks impact the viewers' experiences. In the Starry Night by Van Gogh, viewers can see the sky's activities above the quiet village. On the other hand, my recreation is an imitation, depicting the creativity and imagination depicted in the original painting.

The painting by Van Gogh depicts a symbolic significance where society identifies new meaning and relationship in their works. There is a belief that color carries the emotional and aesthetical meaning of an artwork (Park, 2017). The citron yellow and blue colors represent consolation to the emotionally unstable Van Gogh, creating a feeling of consensus and sublimation. Similarly, in my artwork, I sought to identify new meaning and symbolism using commonly available items around the house. The blue background and curled jeans depict calmness, while the yellow color represents optimism and positivity. Both pieces depict the creativity of the mind and desire to find meaning in daily encounters and experiences.

The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh expresses the inner vision of the sky and the landscape. The masterpiece depicts a bright yellow sky and active sky, as manifested through the brush strokes and swirling clouds. On the other hand, the village below is quiet and serene. My recreation of the artwork seeks to maintain the same theme of heavenly beauty as I used the yellow and blue colors and swirled pieces of clothes to show the moving clouds. Van Gogh created his work using oil on canvas; I used readily available items around the house like yellow balls, wig, plate, and clothes. However, I maintained the formal elements of the line, shape and color.
