Even acute effects of the disease on an individual render them incapable of performing routine tasks since blood is not flowing correctly to the heart and oxygen, therefore is not supplied sufficiently. Indications from research suggest that before individuals suffer the worst-case scenario from the disease, they become unproductive and require medical attention and care, which directly and indirectly affects the economy. Individuals who were once produced in a financial and economic sense become community and family burdens who have to take care of them in performing routine and strenuous tasks and also to provide medical care. The finances and effort that goes into managing CAD could have otherwise been used in development or saving by families and the community. Hence, the disease poses a double threat by decommissioning a productive individual out of service and indulging other people to take of them financially.
