Social media is a favorite for many as this is a platform where they interact with other and share real-life stories and struggles. It is an industry encompassing enormous investments made by people as it is used as a platform to market, trade and share ideas on products. Entrepreneurs, professionals, athletes, teens or teachers have a place in Facebook which is one of the social media platforms and is open to all. This essay aims at answering questions on Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook as depicted below.

1. How would you rate Zuckerberg in terms of the Big Five personality dimensions?

The five personality dimensions include openness, conscientiousness, agreeability, extraversion and neuroticism (Alharyout, 2018). These factors are relative, as one may be dependent on the other or one might have two extremes, in which case most people fall in-between. People who are open seem to be more creative, take time to understand how the world works and are diverse regarding their interests and ideas. Zuckerberg can be termed as one who is high in openness as he is creative and curious about the world. He can also be said to be one who is low in extraversion; meaning he is an introvert, evident by the way he prefers to stay out of the public eye and may appear a bit distant. The capacity to which Mark is kind is awing, observed from his gesture of signing to give half of his wealth during his lifetime and giving away a hundred million dollars to a school depicting that he is both conscientious and agreeable, as he is both thoughtful and kind.

2. How would you evaluate Zuckerberg regarding core self-evaluations and emotional intelligence? Explain.

According to Aryee (2017), core self-evaluations are key determinants of job satisfaction and overall job performance since it is defined as the representation of stable personal characteristics that are constant over time. Core self-evaluations include factors such as self-confidence, neuroticism, generalized self-efficacy and lotus of control. Conversely, emotional intelligence is the ability to control one’s emotions being aware that one's feelings can influence others'. Mark is high on all these attributes except neuroticism which he is the contrary. He can comprehend that the development of Facebook is his own doing, thus attributing it to himself. Resilience and persistence in his dream prompted him to quit school and focus solely on Facebook which paid off by being one of the most popular modes of global communication. His emotional intelligence capabilities are most evident in how he influences the world to view things from his perspective by conducting hackathons then picking the most skilled and mentoring them.

3. How will Face book’s mission, values, and culture affect the three components of employees’ attitudes and workplace behavior?

The three main components of employee's attitudes are cognition - which is an opinion, effect; which is the emotional impact of the opinion and behavior which is the outcome of the two mentioned above. Zuckerberg created a base in which employees can emulate with the knowledge of indisputable the fact that his intentions are well above the moral bar. He built Facebook with the sole purpose of filling a global gap in the social media industry and not out of greed and ambition. Employees are therefore encouraged to work passionately for a standard course. A working environment based on integrity breeds job satisfaction within the, thus, maximizing employee productivity, reducing employee turnover (Mathieu, 2016) and consequently retaining rare talent. By emphasizing on being bold, focusing on impact, moving fast and building social values, employees are encouraged to venture into society and make a difference.

4. What are your thoughts about Face book’s diversity statistics? Explain.

Facebook is making slow progress regarding its diversity as seen from the statistics. The gender diversity is questionable as the majority is men who were employed in the senior positions and women being the least represented. Ethnic diversity is also alarming as the majority of the employees in the top positions are white, Asians, Hispanic and Blacks, being the most inappropriately represented. They are at a disadvantage because statistics show they are only two percent of the workforce. It is evident that most of the high-tech companies lack diversity, especially in managerial positions. Women are also an underrepresented gender and should be given more priority and the chance to prove themselves.

Conclusion

The questions answered above reveal that Zuckerberg depicts integrity; he is committed and resilient since he founded his company by providing a means of global interaction and not wealth. He is a leader who exudes kindness and generosity which are essential virtues for employees and others to emulate. His company, Facebook, lacks diversity. However, this is subject to change. The organization has come up with new ways to eradicate the lack of variety and ensure a productive workforce.
