When a teacher builds a warm and caring relationship with each child a positive social and emotional learning environment is established. The benefit would be that it becomes easier to identify those children who may need more support to co-regulate, which would help facilitate a faster response where necessary. Additionally, parents know their children best, and so they would offer much-needed support to the teacher as they get to take up the role of taking care of the children during their period at school (Merrill & Sheehan, 2018). Thus, through the parents, the teachers learn more about the student in a way that they would not have if they were to do it alone. Establishing a positive social and emotional learning environment help children adapt faster to the school environment which prevents them from missing their parents and guardians.

The caring environment can be established by creating a cozy corner within the classroom or a family child care home. The corner would help the overwhelmed students, and accommodate all students regardless of their unique needs, which would give them a sense of belonging. It would also facilitate faster identification of pupils who need attention. When the needs of young children are consistently and lovingly met, secure attachments are formed ( Guide, 2011). Consequently, such pupils are most likely to develop positive social and emotional skills, know they can rely on their teachers to meet their needs and can confine in them. Additionally, some other strategies such as addressing every student by their name when they get into the classroom can help in establishing positive social and emotional learning environment. The method has been found to be effective in the preschool setting.
