Ideally, Sheltered English instructions engage English language learners above the beginner level. In the classes, teachers use clear, simple and direct English. The vocabulary also entails words that are not complex for the learners. I have evaluated two lesson plans from the SIOP lesson plans and activities in my study.

On the topic of the basic needs of living things, the learning objectives of the topic have been well stated. An example is that the learners should be able to identify basic needs of living things. Language objectives entail language art standards ( Echevarria and Short, 2013) . From the lesson plan, the learner should be able to explain to a partner why food, water, shelter, and air are important for survival. The teacher designs activities to achieve the intended objectives at the end of the lesson. The teacher has listed vocabulary with word the students should be familiar. An example is a food and shelter. For the learners to grab the concept, both student-centered and teacher-centered strategies have been used. In groups, students discuss the important elements for survival. At the end of the lesson, assessment provides feedback.

In the SIOP lesson plan of the dragonfly, the content and language objectives have been stated. The learners should be able to label parts of a dragonfly and write a descriptive sentence about dragonflies.A simple vocabulary is used. An example is insects and hunts. The activities include students writing on a chart paper ( Kareva and Echevarria, 2013) . The teacher asks questions and allows the learners to discuss and then present their answers. The last part of the lesson plan is the review and assessment which checks whether the stated objectives were achieved. In conclusion, the lesson plans have addressed the SEI strategies, and the vocabulary of words used is simple and clear to the learners.
