Good evening and welcome to Bright Light Elementary school. I am honored to have the opportunity to speak to you on matters that affect our children's development. I am Katonya Payton; tonight's presentation will only last about 40 minutes, which will give you essential details on the topic. After the presentation, there will be time for questions. I appreciate your time and attention.

1.

Child development is an interactive process that is influenced by the surrounding environment. At our school, we accept all races, backgrounds, cultures, as demonstrated in our class representation. In our class of twenty students, diversity is evident through representation in four ethnicities, including African Americans, Asians, Hispanics and Whites. I request our parents to adapt to our diverse reads such as “the skin you live in” and "the colors of us" to teach children more about multiculturalism. Please provide a conducive environment for Pre-K-3 children to rely on family and community as the primary source for learning based on what they see and observe.  As a result, we can enable students to learn excellent skills to express themselves respectably.  Most importantly, culture shapes how children perceive others as they interact in social contexts. Parents should play a significant role in enculturation since it allows children to mold behavior and thinking patterns (September et al., 2016). I legitimize different languages so that children can feel comfortable and transform diversity into knowledge through plays and monthly class celebrations of culture. I encourage parents to relate reading topic with their backgrounds to build a sense of identity. Children make sense of their world based on knowledge from their social settings.

2.

Inclusive familiar relationships and environment promote child development by providing a reliable support system. From birth up to age five, relationships in social contexts result in permanent change formation relationships due to childhood experience (Roostin, 2018). The social environment influences how children perceive knowledge, relationships, and approaches to challenges and differences from an informed place. By building quality relationships within families based on respectful communications, parents can positively impact children's behavior and personalities.

3.

Adverse childhood experiences negatively impact the psychological well-being of students. Adverse experiences such as abuse, neglect, and exposure to violence lead to students' psychopathology. The traumas shape individual mental health, resulting in mental disorders due to alterations of emotional processing. For instance, if a child experiences harm through violence, they are more likely to construct realities based on violence or have difficulties identifying safety cues. Adversities lead to deprivation, threatens safety which affects the mental wellness of students. Traumatic experiences pose a significant risk to school performance. For school-aged learners, motivation to perform in studies is highly influenced by the surroundings. When the environment is conducive, students need minimal academic interventions to retain and improve on their grades. For instance, if the home environment exposes them to drug abuse, it becomes a motivating factor to absenteeism and behavioral problems. Ultimately, lowered school attendance leads to higher risks of failure in academics.

4.

Engaging in reading sessions helps in activating understanding and provides access to knowledge. For instance, parents can associate meanings based on the surrounding environment when a child encounters new words. Reading activates literacy skills that boost vocabulary and helps to formulate meanings.  The collaboration of short plays strengthens communication skills with an opportunity to learn essential life lessons. As parents, you can motivate children to create stories together that have idealistic lessons about the world. For instance, stories created based on diversity help children appreciate the need for inclusivity in their interaction in the real world. Since learning begins at home, it is essential that parents assist in challenging prejudices. Thank you for coming for the family and culture welcome night. At Bright Light Elementary school, we value impactful education that promotes diversity in our society. Through collaboration with families and the community, we can build confidence that embraces diversity. I look forward to positive engagement with you and the students.
