One of the focused field experience activities that students take part in group work. Group work involves students engaging in learning activities together where they carry out the activities as a group. There are a number of modifications which need to be made on group work so that a student with a language disability can be catered for. One of the modifications is to simplify the task that needs to be carried out. Simplifying the task will enable the student to easily understand what needs to be done. Another modification is putting the student in a group of individuals who can help him/her to understand easily. This will allow the student to participate fully in the group work.

Reflection upon field experience
Dealing with students with language disabilities is challenging. This is because communicating to such students is hard due to their disabilities. However, the field experience also provided an opportunity to learn. One of the things that were learned was that with the right help, students with language disabilities can also perform well just like normal students. Another lesson from this experience was that language disability does not imply cognitive disability. Students with language can easily discern concepts even though communicating those concepts is hard. As such, with the right kind of help, students with language disability can perform well academically.
