Duchamp mainly influenced Dada, futuristic and conceptual art. The Dada movement mainly created artwork which was considered meaningless. For example Bicycle Wheel does not show the artist’s originality. Duchamp just picked a ready-made stool and wheel and promoted them as works of art. On the surface, they are just assemblages with no special theme. Futuristic art is mostly manifested in Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase. The piece of art does not follow the conventional styles that existed at the moment. Therefore, the art indicated that artists in the future were likely to break away from the conventional styles. Jean Tinguely is evidently influenced by Marcel Duchamp and the Dada movement. Jean’s Homage to New York does not have a particular theme.
