On average, a woman can expect to live longer than a man owing to some factors. Among the major factors that may significantly contribute towards a woman having a longer lifespan than a man is that women often suffer less oxidative stress compared to men. Oxidative stress could usually lead to the generation of free radicals which are believed to be responsible for increased damaging of body cells in humans. Moreover, oxidative damage normally forms the underlying aspect of aging and is more than three times higher in males than in females.
The primary reasons why men and women have significantly different expected lifespan include the biological advantages that contribute towards higher longevity for women compared to men. In that respect, the biological advantage is attributable to hormonal differences as well as the fact that the monthly menstrual cycle in women reduces the building up of surplus iron in the bodies. Female fetuses and embryos are stronger than those of males thus females are believed to have better-built and safer bodies than males. This could reduce instances of diseases and illnesses among women thereby extending the lifespan.

What I think about this research is that it brings about quite informative findings that researchers and scholars may still want to explore further. This research is very new to me since I knew nothing about it before. I also think that this difference in lifespan between men and women is something that could be influenced by several other factors rather than just one element. Also, I believe that this difference in lifespan between males and females is due to biology and genetics. However, there is a possibility that that lifestyle choices made by both men and women could have a role to play in either reducing or extending their respective lifespans.
