This is one of the most fascinating yet saddening stories of how a child can be denied the care, food, sunlight, love, and opportunity to learn and grow. It shows the cruelty and suffering that some families undergo. The kind of torture for being locked in a room and not allowed to talk or make noise was the major cause of her underdevelopment. Appearing to be seven years when she was 13 and being unable to communicate more than twenty words is so saddening. The fact that people who were interested in researching about her found that she was a very intelligent girl is more hurting to see how she was forced into a terrifying situation.
I think that the LAD theory is more accurate for language acquisition. The LAD as a hypothetical tool that helps children to learn and understand language rapidly. The fact that girl could understand some grammar and syntax as well as producing sound despite the situation she was raised for 13 years is a show that LAD theory is accurate for language acquisition. It shows that despite the situation a child is raised, every child has the ability to acquire language.

After interaction for a while, Genie improved her language skills as well as overall communication. Social interaction between the girl and the adults help her acquire and develop her language and communication skills. Through interaction, the child can learn various linguistic and develop language. It is necessary that a child interacts with adults who have already acquired language skills because through this interaction, they can develop their language ( Lantolf, Thorne & Poehner , 2015).
On the response to the classmate’s post, I think the student does well in expressing the reaction towards the case study. The student provides his/her feelings towards the story, which is so good. Also, the student does well in explaining how the social interaction theory helped the girl to develop language. By referring to the socialization with the adults, she was able to develop language skills. However, the student needs to provide an elaborate explanation of why the LAD theory is accurate for language acquisition based on the case study. The explanation provided is good, but needs to be more elaborate and clear.
