Coaching needs to incorporate spiritual, cultural and personal values for it to be most effective. In order to do so, there has to be an understanding of their backgrounds first so as to act appropriately. Sensitivity to a person’s spiritual beliefs is imperative so as not to cause offense. For example, even when the coaching process is taking too long because the learner does not understand important concepts, personal values such as perseverance and humility become important for the coach to embrace. Confidence on the part of the coach and a focus towards excellence are also some of the important values that the coach needs to exhibit; they are admirable qualities that people often emulate.

Cultural consideration is very important because it is based on the norms and rules governing a given society. Cultural values tend to be very firmly held and a violation of such a norm could render the coaching ineffective. It is therefore necessary first of all to understand the cultural background and values embraced by the person (Alexander, 2011) . Some of the important values include maintaining the appropriate distance, using the right tone for instruction, appropriate dressing, greetings and general mannerisms.
