Today, climate change is a global problem that impacts human life significantly. The rising global temperatures increase sea levels and cause extreme weather events like droughts, floods, and storms. Notably, all these events affect human livelihoods, health, housing and infrastructure. Additionally, climate change also affects ecology and the ecosystem. As a result of these changes, several species of animals and plants have become extinct. The American Chemical Society (ACS) has a significant role in mitigating climate change by creating green technologies that address greenhouse gases (GHGs) reduction targets. Additionally, international cooperation is critical to address the impacts of human activities on global climate change. According to scientists, the industrial revolution was the turning point of the emission of greenhouse gases. The future effects on global climate change will depend on how countries implement their prevention efforts in order to minimize greenhouse emissions.

The journal examines the impacts of climate change on land Degradation. According to the authors, land degradation includes physical, chemical, and biological changes on soils. Additionally, this study particularly examines how climate change affects organic matters, soil structure, and nutrients levels. Organic matter is one of the essential components of soils, and its decomposition rates increase due to increased temperature. Changes in temperature impacts soil nutrients levels in numerous ways. For example, increased temperatures may reduce nutrients in the soils because of the raised evaporative forces. The authors review literature from other scholars to support their arguments which increases the authority of the source. Notably, most of the sources are either related to land degradation or climate change which are appropriate for my topic.

The journal supports my research question as it explains the impacts of global climate changes on land degradation, thus affecting sustained development. The authors have clearly illustrated how increased temperatures affect soil nutrients, soil structure and organic matter that are a significant constituent.

Arora, N. K. (2019). Impact of climate change on agriculture production and its sustainable solutions. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42398-019-00078-w

The article examines the effects of climate change on agriculture and provides a sustainable solution. Anthropogenic activities have led to an increase in temperatures due to greenhouse gas emissions. Notably, the unpredicted changes in climate have increased events of floods, drought, and heat waves. An increase in sea levels and heavy rainfall affect agricultural lands on coastal resulting in decreased photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration, and all these processes jeopardize food availability in the regions. To support the claims, the authors have included data from various world organizations. For example, the Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) report reveals that if global climate changes and Greenhouse emissions continue, there is the likelihood of reducing cereal crops by the year 2100. The article is related to the journal by Kumar & Das (2014) in that both have explained how climate changes result in land degradation, causing deficient nutrients in soils and desertification. The article helps to understand how climate change affects agricultural production in coastal regions and supports my research question.

Hamidov, A., Khamidov, M., & Ishchanov, J. (2020). Impact of climate change on groundwater management in the northwestern part of Uzbekistan.  Agronomy 10 (8), 1173. https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4395/10/8/1173

The study examines the effects of climate change on groundwater management in Uzbekistan. This study provides insights into groundwater response to changes in climate and helps government officials plan for this region. The authors indicate that climate changes are likely to decreases water table depths by 2100. The increasing levels of the salinized water table affect soil fertility. Additionally, shallow water depth disrupts the development of crop productivity in the Northern parts of Uzbekistan. The authors have provided adequate information on climate change effects on groundwater and statistics from other scholars, and reports from World Organizations such as United Nations and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to support their claims.

The article provides critical information on the impacts of climate change on groundwater management. This information is related to Kumar & Das, and Arora's article, which explains how climate change affects food production. Lastly, the article supports my research question by illustrating how Uzbekistan's rising levels affect soil fertility, thus low agriculture production.

Jiao, N. Z., Chen, D. K., Luo, Y. M., Huang, X. P., Zhang, R., Zhang, H. B., ... & Zhang, F. (2015). Climate change and anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems and countermeasures in China.  Advances in Climate Change Research 6 (2), 118-125. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1674927815000544

The article examines the impacts of climate change on the marine ecosystems in China. Climate changes in China have resulted in biological abundance and also distributions of ecosystems. Additionally, approximately 80% of the Chinese living coral cover has reduced due to anthropogenic and climate changes. According to the authors, changes associated with fishery species due to multi-decadal climate have been reported in China's coastal region. Throughout the article, there are numerous statistics from scholars and reports from government agencies that help support the authors' claims. Notably, all statistical information is cited, demonstrating the credibility of the information used in the research article.

The article is closely related to Hamidov et al. study that concentrates on the impacts of climate change on groundwater. Both articles reveal how marine ecosystems are affected by global climate changes. The information presented in this article helps me understand the relationship between climate change and marine life in China and the impacts on the coastal region.

Arnell, N. W., & Gosling, S. N. (2016). The impacts of climate change on river flood risk at the global scale.  Climatic Change 134 (3), 387-401.

The article assesses the implications of climate change on flood hazards and evaluates the impacts of climate using models. The impacts of climate change on flood hazards can be represented using two scenarios. The first one characterizes changes using four SRES and IPCC emissions scenarios, while the second describes changes in climate with change surface temperature. The widespread impacts of climate change on floods depend on the ground water and not necessarily the function of change in the precipitation. The study uses statistics and comparisons between different parts of the world to support claims about the adverse effects of climate change on river floods. Additionally, the authors also depend on other literature to show the relationship between climate change and river flood risks. The research study is similar to that of Jiao et al. (2015) as both focus on marine ecosystems and river floods. The study supports my research question by illustrating the climate scenarios and their adverse impacts on river floods.
