Symbolism in a Poem
An example of a poem with symbolism is "My Heart Leaps Up When I Behold" by William Wordsworth. An excerpt of it is illustrated below:
My heart leaps up when I behold A rainbow in the sky: So was it when my life began; So is it now I am a man; So be it when I shall grow old, Or let me die!
In this context, the rainbow symbolizes hope and also childish wonder.
